Nashville Songwriters come together for Survival Celebration Benefit Event for one of their own surviving Cancer treatments, Stroke, multiple surgeries last year

Picture
Greg Wilson is a Nashville singer songwriter married to his co-writer Donna Wilson for 20 years. Last year Greg was diagnosed with bladder cancer.  This isn’t really where their medical odyssey began.  It began on Christmas Night of 2009 when Greg suffered and survived his first stroke.  The Wilson’s had been living in Georgia and commuting to TN for networking with the songwriting community since 1998. After the first stroke they knew they could no longer make their weekend jaunts up to Nashville so they made Tennessee their permanent home in 2011.

In January, 2018 Greg was diagnosed with bladder cancer. He underwent 8 rounds of double chemo and 38 radiation treatments simultaneously.  While being taken off blood thinners for a biopsy in August to see if the cancer was dead, Greg developed blood clots in his legs. One helicopter life flight, and four vascular surgeries later, Greg faced an amputation of a toe.  While recovering from that amputation, Greg suffered a stroke in 3 areas of his brain. This was just a few days before Christmas.  Nine years to the day after his first stroke, the Wilson’s spent Christmas night in St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital recovering from a stroke in 3 areas of Greg’s brain.

Donna refers to her husband as “My Miracle Man.”  His surviving 2018 was certainly miraculous, however bills are mounting. The Nashville songwriting community is a tight knit bunch. They are coming together on St. Patrick’s Day to celebrate Greg’s survival. They would like to raise some much needed funds for bills and continued care.

Songwriters performing are: Jill L Sissel, Billy Lee, Jimmy Payne, Jenna Longmire, Jet Taylor, Gary Cavanaugh, Karree J Phillips, John Trentes, Ty Warner, Marc-Allan Barnette, Paul Jefferson, Donnie Winters, Kimberley Dahme, Pete Sallis, Joel Shewmake, Pam Belford, Jerry Foster, Lee Rascone Sr., Mac Elliott, Annie Mosher, Jamie Meyer, James Peters and more TBA.

The iconic Little River Band is going to match all donations given on March 17th, 2019.  A GoFundMe has been set up at   https://www.gofundme.com/Gregs-Cancer-4-Surgeries-Stroke-Relief-Fund. You can follow their journey at www.NolanWilson.com.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nashville, Tennessee
May 15, 2018

Jenna Longmire laments about “The God I Knew” while releasing single and lyric video.

The God I Knew is so much more than a song to Jenna Longmire.  It has become a memorial tribute song for her dear friend Merrill Farnsworth. Prompted by an assignment given at the 2017 Mercyland Songwriting Workshop “The God I Knew” was written by Jenna Longmire, Allison Dowsley and Stephan Gaus. Longmire’s deep passionate vocals bring this song to places seen in the lyric video.

Jenna Longmire had this to say about Merrill Farnsworth and Mercyland Songwriting Workshop.

“Merrill Farnsworth, dear friend and writing mentor invited me to attend and perform at the first Mercyland in Grayton Beach, January 2015 soon after the release of my first CD ‘Resistance.’ Little did we know then that she and her partner Phil Madeira would start a heartfelt, soulful community of songwriters? We lost Merrill in September of 2017 to Cancer so I am honoring her legacy with the song release. It was her prompt, “your favorite Bible verse” that inspired the song.”

The GOD I Knew is a thought provoking song that recants ones spiritual relationship between them and their GOD.  The combo of gorgeous scenic photos and lyrics creates a visual presentation that is sure to touch ones soul. The lyric video is being released via YouTube on May 15th, 2018.  This lyric video is sure to inspire and evoke emotion. Once again Jenna delivers another beautiful, poignant song. Many people will be able to relate to this song.  The painting entitled “River Angel” by Merrill Farnsworth is featured at the end of this music video. Another profound fact connected to this release is the lyric video has been produced and edited by a man who has been battling bladder cancer.

The GOD I Knew is now available on iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby.  Find how more about Jenna by visiting her website and make sure to like her on Facebook.

About Sixwire:
Sixwire's first Warner Brothers release debuted in the top 30, and spawned the chart hits LOOK AT ME NOW and WAY TOO DEEP.  Touring followed with artists like Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride, Phil Vassar, and others.  When Sixwire departed Warner Brothers, some of the band members served as the house band on USA Network's NASHVILLE STAR for 3 seasons.  Sixwire was chosen to be a part of FOX Network show called THE NEXT GREAT AMERICAN BAND.  The three-month filming schedule required a temporary move to Los Angeles for the quintet, and established a larger nation-wide following than Sixwire's prior exposure from country radio.

Sixwire returned to Nashville to become the house band for CMT's CAN YOU DUET for two seasons.  American Idol producer recruited Sixwire to serve as house band on their new show CMT's NEXT SUPERSTAR.

That led to a call from ABC and LION'S GATE to be backing band for character 'Rayna Jaymes' played by actress CONNIE BRITTON on ABC's 'NASHVILLE'.  Sixwire was regularly seen with Britton, and also with co-star CHARLES ESTEN who plays the character 'Deacon Claybourne'.  Esten befriended the band, and asked Sixwire to join him on tour, which sometimes also features actress CLARE BOWEN ('Scarlett O'Connor' on 'Nashville') and other cast members. 'NASHVILLE' is currently in its 6th season, and airing on its new home, CMT Network. Sixwire is currently recording a new studio album.

About Stranger Friends:
If you combine two independent songwriters, one with a Grammy nomination and the other with multiple Garth Brooks cuts, then mix in an original 10 song soundtrack they wrote for the upcoming feature film, Dog Years, starring Burt Reynolds and Ariel Winter - you would have Nashville’s newest duo, Stranger Friends. John Martin and Jamie Floyd create an intimate West Coast sound rooted in vintage country music delivered with a modern style. Through laid back, rootsy arrangements with lyric driven, classic songwriting and a vulnerable approach to vocals/harmonies, Stranger Friends sound invites you in to be a part of their uncommon story.

About Andrea Zonn:

Andrea is a profoundly prolific singer songwriter and phenomenal musician. Andrea’s years on the road as a fiddler and harmony singer for James Taylor, Vince Gill, Trace Adkins and others have drawn her close to some important artists. She’s the first to tell you how much she values working for them. But on "Rise," Zonn’s second album as an artist, they’re supporting her.
Her good friends worked on her last CD project are Taylor on harmony vocals, plus country legend Gill.  Also lending extraordinary talent was modern day blues master Keb’ Mo’ singing and playing guitar, and dobro star Jerry Douglas, Newgrass-founding mandolinist Sam Bush, list, current Doobie Brother John Cowan, and multi-award winning musician Mac McAnally.
