After reaching the milestone of 40 years with Little River Band, I decided it was time to put my story on the record.  The result became - Little Rivers Run Rough: Surviving the Music Business – a package of audio and video products as the vehicle for telling my story. I reached out to Al Bertani (Bird) who has been my best friend for over 55 years to help me chronicle this journey. Al is also perfectly suited for this partnership because he was the drummer in our very first band. We’ve devoted most of the last two years to creating a series of digital recordings to highlight the often exciting, certainly unique, and sometimes tumultuous life of being a rock and roll musician. I invite you to explore these digital products to learn more about the questions you often ask me face-to-face at a Meet and Greet …or more recently on-line as the world has been turned upside down during the pandemic. VIENNA, VA (September 16, 2019) – Many healthcare professionals are starting to give more attention to Aspirin-Exacerbated Respiratory Disease (AERD), a chronic medical condition that involves asthma, persistent nasal polyps and a sensitivity to aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID). As part of raising awareness of AERD, Allergy & Asthma Network announces that AERD Awareness Day this year is Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019.
 
The theme for AERD Awareness Day is “Living Well with AERD.” Allergy & Asthma Network, a leading nonprofit patient education organization, will help distribute educational resources in print and online about the condition, which affects approximately 1.2 million to 1.6 million people in the United States. AERD, also known as Samter’s Triad, typically develops in adulthood between the ages of 20 and 50.

​AERD Awareness Day highlights the many concerns facing people with AERD, including disease severity, prevention strategies and treatment options such as aspirin desensitization. AERD is a very complex disease – symptoms do not often respond to conventional treatments and many patients also experience chronic sinus infections and a loss of sense of smell – and the goal of the awareness day is to encourage doctors and patients to stay vigilant in recognizing, understanding and managing the condition.
 
In addition to AERD Awareness Day, Allergy & Asthma Network announces that Rhonda Nelson will serve as the organization’s spokesperson for AERD issues. Nelson was diagnosed with AERD in 2002 and advocated for patients at Allergy & Asthma Day Capitol Hill (AADCH) in May 2019 alongside her husband Wayne Nelson, lead singer of the Little River Band. AADCH is the Network’s annual advocacy day in Washington, D.C.

​AERD Awareness Day began in 2018 with a fundraiser to promote clinical research of the disease as well as distribution of educational and poster displays for allergists, asthma educators, respiratory therapists and other medical professionals.

Little River Band is heading to The Schermerhorn in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday, July 19th, 2019.  Little River Band symphony shows are so much more than a concert.  They are what can only be described as a true musical experience that takes you back in time revisiting sweet moments and memories.  With ease and grace they pull you back to the here and now introducing new fantastic melodies.  

The symphony adds a touch of class, elegance and emotion with each synchronized note and impassioned crescendo.  The combination of vocal harmonies, supreme musicianship and sincere camaraderie delivers a phenomenal evening as well as an unforgettable live concert event.  Opening for LRB is singer/songwriter Arista Recording artist Robert Count.

​On Wednesday, May 8th, 2019, Wayne and Rhonda Nelson will join others at the AAN’S Annual Capitol Hill Day. They will be heading to Washington D.C., to speak before members of Congress to bring awareness and change for people suffering from Asthma.  Rhonda Nelson suffers from a respiratory disease so this cause is near and dear to their hearts. A few of the issues they will focus on are access to care, affordable treatments and medications, allergy and asthma Federal Funding and health equity. Rhonda Nelson says:
 
“Awareness can only be made and change can only happen if we speak up and share our stories.  Our voices are powerful! Our voices need to be heard.  Our voices will be heard on May 8th, 2019. Breathing is not optional.” Rhonda went on to say: “Back in 2002, out of nowhere, I developed what I thought was a cold. A cold that left me struggling to catch my breath”
 
Rhonda would eventually be diagnosed with AERD, a respiratory disease. Social media led Rhonda to the discovery of a group made up of people who have AERD. Their group aligned with the Allergy and Asthma Network whose mission is the end the needless death and suffering due to asthma, allergies and related conditions through outreach, education, advocacy and research. #AADCH2019
