Little River Band created a fund raiser to try and help raise funds for Wildlife and Domestic Animals in Houston, Texas. Everyone can see devastation by just turning on their TV's.  The Red Cross and many other organizations are taking care of people that are in need in Houston. The animals are going to need help as well.  

When the band was doing research regarding organizations and not for profits that help animals in Houston, they ran across Harvey the Hurricane Hawk and TWRC Wildlife Center. 

Harvey the Hurricane Hawk

Harvey is a hawk that dodge the winds of the hurricane by flying into a local cab in Houston.  The cab driver let him stay a day or two.  Then he safely delivered Harvey into the skilled hands of someone who works for the TWRC Wildlife Center in Houston.  After Harvey was examined, it was discovered that he does have an injury which is probably why he was not flying away from the threat of the hurricane.  He would have surely perished in the hurricane if he did not take shelter in that cab.

Harvey is bringing a lot of attention to all the animals both domestic and wild in the Houston area.  We have seen dogs swimming down the flooded streets turned rivers in Houston.  We have seen animals left chained to trees and poles.  We have seen people carrying dogs and cats to safety.  We have seen animals in all situations in all levels of need.  



Little River Band would like to help TWRC Wildlife Center take care of these animals.

Little River Band has a fan club called the "Night Owls," and their mascot is HOOT- THE OWL after LRB's hit song, "The Night Owls." When Harvey was brought to Wayne Nelson's attention he thought he and his rescue venue TWRC Wildlife Center should be featured in the fund raising campaign.  It just felt right said Wayne Nelson.

 Rickey Medlocke featured in the film “Rumble,” recently featured at Sundance Film Festival. About Rickey Medlocke
Rickey Medlocke formed the band BLACKFOOT when he was in his late teens. Medlocke was the lead vocalist and front man and kept the band going releasing over 10 hard rock albums. During a brief time in 1971 Rickey left BLACKFOOT to tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd as their drummer until 1973.  He then reformed BLACKFOOT where he remained until the mid 1990's.
During his early time with Skynyrd, Medlocke wrote and recorded with the band.  He sang lead on some songs like: "One More Time", "Preacher’s Daughter", "Lend A Helpin’ Hand", "Wino", "White Dove", "Comin' Home", "The Seasons", "Ain’t Too Proud To Pray," and "You Run Around." 
After a few successful years with Skynyrd, Medlocke went back and reformed BLACKFOOT.  The band began touring and started producing hit songs that included, "Train Train", written by Medlocke’s grandfather, and "Highway Song", written by Medlocke and BLACKFOOT drummer Jakson Spires. 
In 1996 Rickey received a phone call from Gary Rossington inviting him to rejoin Lynyrd Skynyrd as lead guitarist and primary songwriter.  Medlocke continues to be a full time guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd touring and recording.  Medlocke is still heavily involved in BLACKFOOT.  He handpicked the next generation of musicians for the band where he mentors, producers and writes for the band.  
In 2008, Medlocke was inducted into the Native American Music Hall of Fame.  In 2013 Rickey Medlocke won a Native American Music Award for Best Instrumental Recording with Homeland Nation Soundtrack at the 14th Annual Native American Music Awards.  Now in 2016 Rickey is featured in this wonderful documentary honoring his heritage in: ‘RUMBLE, The Indians Who Rocked the World.’

Little River Band helping to reunite Grandparents with their Grandchildren across the world

Little River Band is helping to reunite a grandmother and grandfather with their 2 granddaughters all the way from Australia.  The band has autographed a guitar that is now available on eBay.  The Go Fund Me states that the family had suffered a hate crime in Australia.  During that hate crime, the house the family lived in was destroyed along with all their possessions.  The family has had to start all over again so there are simply no funds for a much needed visits.  It is very clear that this family needs to come home for a long extended healing visit.

Atlantic Community High School student brings international recording artists to Boca Raton, Florida on February 1, 2017 at 7:30 p.m., at Temple Beth El, 333 Southwest 4th Avenue to perform for her cause.
 
The Save the Kids from Cholera acoustic concert with Stephen Housden and Wayne Nelson from the Little River Band is a once in a lifetime event. These two amazing musicians are dedicating their time and effort to raise awareness for the war torn people of South Sudan. Lead guitarist Stephen Housden is flying in from Ireland for this special event joined by LRB lead singer, bass guitarist Wayne Nelson.  They will perform LRB hit songs and treat us to some new songs as well. Stephen is regarded as one of the finest guitarists in the world, having played and recorded with such legends as Warren Zevon, Glenn Frey (The Eagles), Dr. John, Christopher Cross, John Entwistle (The Who), P.F Sloan, Steve Cropper and many, many others.
 
Wayne joined Little River Band 38 years ago after leaving Jim Messina’s band. He was the lead vocalist on the smash hit “The Night Owls”, and was a key vocal contributor to the band Glenn Frey called ‘the greatest singing band in the world”.
 
All proceeds from this event go to providing Sawyer Water Filters to families in South Sudan to prevent Cholera. At $15 these incredible filters provide clean water and safety from water borne illnesses. Organized and produced by Atlantic Community High School Sophomore student Audrey Hayward, her goal is to raise enough money to provide water filters for 200 South Sudanese families.
 
Audrey had been influenced by Water is Basic for most of her life. She was exposed to the problem in South Sudan by watching a film called Ru (screened before the show). Ru is a movie about a fifteen year old in South Sudan and her daily struggle to get clean water. This film put Audrey’s whole life into perspective. She began to realize that she doesn’t think of clean water as something she could lose. After that, everything made her think of Ru’s plight, flushing the toilet, brushing her teeth and more. Audrey started to compare her daily routine with Ru’s. She became very aware of the privilege she has to obtain clean water right out of the tap. The Save the Children from Cholera concert is her way of making a small difference.  This cause is deep down in everyone’s hearts.  Stephen and Wayne haven’t played together in years which make this an incredible event you cannot miss.

Artists International Management who has represented such acts as Hall of Fame artist Jerry Lee Lewis, The Ventures and Percy Sledge are launching an exciting, fun, family friendly generational tour.  They have appropriately dubbed it “The Bubble Gum Tour,” as it consists of artists and hit songs from the Bubble Gum era of music.
 
Acts on this fabulous conceptual musical tour are Bo Donaldson and the Heywood’s, Dennis Tufano, the original voice of the Buckinghams, Ron Dante of the Archies and Cufflinks, Elliott Lurie of Lookinglass, 1910 Fruitgum Company and Tim Corwin of Ohio Express.
